This website, batterandcrumbs.com, is operated by Batter and Crumbs LLC ("Batter & Crumbs," "we," "us," or "our"), a vegan bakery and cafe located at 1401 Reed Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146.

This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through our website. It does not cover the practices of companies we don't own or control, including Square and the third-party services described below, each of which has its own privacy policy.

information we collect

Information you give us. When you place a cake order, book a wedding cake tasting, apply for a job, or submit a donation, jobs, or contact request, you provide details such as your name, email address, phone number, and the specifics of your request (for example, your pickup date and time, cake details, event details, or the information on a job application).

Payment information. When you pay for an order or a tasting, your payment is processed by Square. Your full card number and payment details are entered on Square's secure checkout and are handled by Square — we do not see, receive, or store your complete card number.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site logs basic technical information such as your browser type, device, and pages viewed. We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool (see "Cookies and analytics" below) that measures aggregate traffic and does not build a profile of you or track you across other websites.

We use the information we collect to: process and fulfill your orders and bookings; send you order confirmations, receipts, and pickup or appointment reminders; respond to your questions, job applications, and donation or contact requests; operate, maintain, and improve our website; protect our site and customers against spam, fraud, and abuse; and comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve you third-party advertising.

how we share your information

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the business, and only as needed for them to perform their service:

Square, Inc. — processes payments and runs our online ordering, cake pickup and tasting bookings, gift cards, and Crumb Club loyalty program. Your order and payment information is handled under Square's Privacy Notice, available at squareup.com/legal/privacy.

Resend — delivers the emails generated when you submit a form to us (for example, a job or donation request), so those requests reach our inbox.

Plausible Analytics — provides the aggregate, cookieless website analytics described below.

Cloudflare (Turnstile) — provides the bot and spam protection on our forms.

Vercel — hosts and delivers our website.

We may also share information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Batter & Crumbs, our customers, or others. If our business is ever sold or transferred, customer information may be part of that transaction.

Third-party delivery. If you order for delivery through a partner such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or Caviar, you do so on that company's platform under its own privacy policy; we receive only the order details needed to prepare your food.

cookies and analytics

We do not use cookies to track you or to serve advertising, and our site does not require a cookie-consent banner because it sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Our analytics are provided by Plausible, which is cookieless and privacy-focused: it reports aggregate metrics (such as page views and referring sites) without cookies and without collecting personal information or tracking you across other sites.

Our spam protection, Cloudflare Turnstile, may set a functional cookie or store a token strictly to confirm that form submissions come from a person rather than a bot. This is used for security, not tracking or advertising.

When you pay through Square's checkout, Square may set its own cookies on its pages under its own policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking functional cookies may affect form submission or checkout.

how long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy — for example, to fulfill your order, keep business and tax records, respond to your inquiry, or as otherwise required by law. Order and payment records held within Square are retained under Square's policies.

If you have questions about your information, or you'd like us to update or remove details we hold about you, email us at batterandcrumbs@gmail.com and we'll do our best to help. Some information may need to be kept for legal, tax, or record-keeping reasons.

Because we don't sell your personal information or use it for advertising, there's nothing to opt out of in that respect.

children's privacy

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

links to other sites

Our site links to services we don't operate, including our Square online store, gift card and loyalty pages, delivery partners, and our social media profiles. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.

security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, and we rely on established providers such as Square, Vercel, and Cloudflare for secure payment processing, hosting, and protection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
